Shopping Cart Nostalgia

My neighborhood is full of shopping carts. The other day, I rode one down memory lane.

It had originally belonged to a now-defunct discount department store chain called Hills. When I was a boy, the Hills and K-mart shopping center was a regular destination, and the Hills concession stand provided the popcorn and slushie that entertained my sister and me while mom shopped. For poor kids, this was eating out.

I also found a “Locally Owned and Operated” shopping cart from “Thomas’ Markets” the other day. Nostalgia, anyone?
